the possible side effects of the treatment.

1.  TUBERCULOSIS
a)        Tuberculosis remains a national, as well as international, challenge. However,
Madagascar is showing signs of improvement with the nascent tuberculosis problem.
There is an improving percentage of tuberculosis cases cured under Directly
Observed Treatment Short course (DOTS), and a relatively stable number of cases
reported each year. However, tuberculosis cases remain vastly underreported, as the
majority of the rural population does not have access to healthcare and may never be
tested for tuberculosis. Furthermore, the rapid rise of Multidrug Resistant
Tuberculosis (MDR) and Extremely Drug Resistant Tuberculosis (XDR) in neighboring
South Africa remains a significant threat.
